Casting for Recovery
Please allow me the opportunity to share with you an exciting program that Philmont is supporting. As you know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, therefore it is a great time to introduce Philmont’s and New Mexico’s first ever casting For Recovery program.
Casting for Recovery is a national non-profit organization that provides retreats for breast cancer survivors. This 2 ½ day retreat is a mixture of support, education and fly fishing instruction, held in a beautiful and relaxing environment. Retreats are currently held in 27 states, Canada, and the UK/Ireland.
Philmont Scout Ranch, Casting for Recovery and the Enchanted Circle Trout Unlimited Chapter are working together to bring the program to New Mexico. The first annual event will be held at the Philmont Training Center on October 8-10, 2010. We have all seen the positive impact Philmont can have on people’s lives and I can not think of a better place to hold a therapeutic retreat.
We need your support! The New Mexico Casting for Recovery program relies on donations to provide this no cost retreat. If you are interested in having a brochure or learning how you can contribute please contact Doug Palmer email Doug.Palmer@scouting.org

Philmont truly is a magical place and we look forward to seeing the impact we can have on our Casting for Recovery participants, who are our sisters, friends and wives.
